For Schools

Project Here is an innovative public-private collaboration to make substance use prevention education available to every public middle school in Massachusetts. Through integrated in-classroom and digital learning experiences, Project Here equips teachers with resources to educate young people about the risks and consequences of using and experimenting with substances, empowers them to help others, and gives them the tools they need to make healthy decisions.

Specifically, registered Project Here schools will have access to

  • an Online Toolkit of research-based resources to bring substance use prevention lessons to the classroom; and
  • Project Here Games, an innovative web-based app that helps students practice healthy decision-making.

Who is Project Here for?

Project Here is designed for students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. It is based on the foundational principle that students can, and will, make healthy choices if given the right tools – and Project Here is a way to help them do that.

Who can register for Project Here?

Superintendents, principals, teachers, and directors of health and/or wellness departments are encouraged to register. If those titles do not describe your role, we recommend reaching out to your school or district administration to have a conversation about bringing Project Here to your community. Our staff would also be happy to assist.

How can Project Here help me in the classroom?

The Online Toolkit is a repository of dozens of research-based awareness and prevention resources that are aligned with National Education Standards. Resources from the Online Toolkit can be used to supplement existing curriculum or as stand-alone prevention resources. The Online Toolkit is organized by subject matter so you can find the particular lessons or other resources to meet the needs of your classroom. Remember, a school must register  in order to have free access to this resource.

Project Here Games is an online app that can be accessed through any web browser, without download, on phones, tablets, and computers. It is designed for use by students on their individual devices or by the whole class with a projector or Smartboard. Project Here Games includes activities, quizzes, and mini-games for students to practice important social emotional skills, such as coping and communication. Project Here Games also teaches students information about substances, from nicotine to marijuana to opioids, in an interactive way.
